Men's Golf Returns to Top-50 Highlight List

Liberty League Fall Preview Victory is #11

The men's golf team makes its fourth appearance on New York University's Top-50 Varsity Sports Highlight List of 2019-20 with its team and individual victories at the Liberty League Fall Preview on Saturday-Sunday, October 5-6. The two-day tournament was held at the Shenendoah Golf Club in Verona, NY.

Not only did the Violets capture the seven-team tournament, but junior Robbie Keyes (Louisville, KY/duPont Manual) and freshman Alan Chen (Freemont, CA/Mission San Jose) tied for the lead after 36 holes. It then took two extra holes before Keyes won the title.

NYU entered the second round trailing Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) by three strokes. However, the Violets shot five strokes better than RPI in the second round to claim the title by a score of 597-599.

Keyes and Chen each finished with a two-round score of three-over-par 147. Keyes shot a three-under 69 on Sunday and went on to end the season as NYU's career leader with 10 rounds at par or under.

Sophomore Joseph Burlison (Salinas, CA/Palma) also posted a top-10 finish for the Violets, shooting 150 and tying for sixth place.

The golf team had previously appeared on the Top-50 List at #39, #36 and #15 (see below).
