Men's Cross Country Returns to Top-50 Highlight List

Violets Place Second at ECAC Championship

The New York University men's cross country team returns to the Top-50 Varsity Sports Highlight List of 2019-20 at #14 with its second-place finish at the Division III Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship on November 9 at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome in Milton, NY.

The Violets finished with 69 points in the 18-team race, ending up seven points behind the winning squad, St. Joseph's College - Long Island.

The top performer for NYU was freshman Jon Diaz (Brookline, MA/Brookline), who crossed the finish line of the 8K course in 10th place with a time of 28:32.7.

Not far behind Diaz were sophomore Malcolm Silver-Van Meter (Thetford, VT/Thetford Academy) (12th place, 28:50.4), junior Pat Xu (Boxborough, MA/Acton-Boxborough) (13th place, 29:06.2) and junior Oliver Jacob (Marblehead, MA/Marblehead) (15th place, 29:15.4).

Overall, 117 runners competed.

The cross country squad had made its debut on the top-50 list at #31 with its victory at the Ron Stonitsch Invitational on September 7.
