NYU's Top-50 Highlights Continue

Wrestling Team Makes First Appearance at #38

Making its first appearance on the countdown of New York University's Top-50 varsity sports highlights of the 2019-20 season is the wrestling team's performance at the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) National Dual Championships in Lexington, KY, on Friday and Saturday, January 10-11.

NYU's grapplers, entering the competition ranked #14 in the nation, defeated two higher-ranked teams and finished in eighth place overall, the best performance in team history.

After winning two of three matches on Friday, including a 21-19 victory over #5 College of Mount Union, the team came back to beat #10-ranked North Central College 18-16 on Saturday.

Over the two days, NYU went 3-3 in its dual meets, with all three losses suffered against higher-ranked teams.

Individually, senior All-Americans Sean Lyons (Sewell, NJ/St. Joseph's Prep) (157) and Evan Drill (Neshanic Station, NJ/Somerville) (149) led the way for NYU, winning five and four bouts, respectively.
