Women's Soccer's Overtime Win Against Case Comes in at #25

The women's soccer team makes its second appearance on the New York University Top-50 Varsity Highlight List of the 2019-20 season at #25 with its thrilling 1-0 overtime victory against University Athletic Association (UAA) foe Case Western Reserve University on October 5.

The host Violets handed the #10-ranked Spartans their first loss of the season.

The teams battled throughout regulation and into a second overtime period without either one able to solve the opponent goalkeeper.

Finally, with just over seven minutes left in the second overtime session, NYU's Cora Creighton (Greenwich, CT/Greenwich Academy) was taken down in the box while rushing the net, and the Violets were awarded a penalty kick.

Nikki Lee (Hillsborough, CA/Crystal Springs Uplands School), a sophomore who had not yet scored a goal in her career, calmly slipped the ball past Lauren Unterborn and into the bottom left corner of the net to give NYU the victory.

The squad had made its first appearance on the top-50 list at #41 with its 10-1 opening-day victory over St. Joseph's College-LI.
