The New York University men's golf team competed in the opening two rounds of the UAA Championships on Monday, September 14 at Elks Run Golf Club in Batavia, OH. The UAA Championships returned to Elks Run for the third consecutive year of the match play tournament.

In the new scoring format, each of the four teams sent six golfers and will face off against each opponent once. Each individual match can earn 3 points for a win and 1 point for a tie. The overall individual points winner determines the team match winner.

NYU began with a matchup against Carnegie Mellon. Jomyuth Luangtana-anan (3&2) and Tanmay Chandra (2&1) both opened with victories. Chandra eagled the ninth hole and birdied four additional holes in his round.

Carnegie Mellon was able to take the other four matches, giving NYU 6 points in the morning action.

In the afternoon round, the Violets took on Emory. Luangtana-Anan continued his strong play with a 2-up victory, highlighted by winning six-straight holes midway through the round. Ryan Zhao claimed the final two holes to win 2-up.

Emory won the other four matches, resulting in another 6 points for NYU.

With one more match to go, the Violets currently sit in fourth place with 12 points. They will take on Rochester in tomorrow's 8 AM shotgun start.
