Top-50 Highlight Countdown Rolls On

Men’s Golf Season-Opening Victory at St. Lawrence Invite is #36

The men's golf team makes its second appearance on New York University's Top-50 varsity sports highlight list of 2019-20 with its season-opening victory at the St. Lawrence Invitational.

Having debuted at #39 with its win at the Duke Nelson Invitational, the Violets now return at #36 with their stellar performance on September 7-8 at the Oliver D. Appleton Golf Course in Canton, NY.

The squad's two-round total of 582 represented the third-lowest 36-hole score in team history, while the first-round 290 was fifth best.

The Violets' outstanding performance left them a comfortable 13 strokes ahead of second-place (and host) St. Lawrence University (595) in the 11-team field.

All five scorers for NYU finished among the top seven, with Robbie Keyes (Louisville, KY/duPont Manual) leading the way in third place. Christian Wentzel (San Clemente, CA/Montverde Academy) took sixth, while Joseph Burlison (Salinas, CA/Palma), Alan Chen (Freemont, CA/Mission San Jose) and Chris Lee (Palisades Park, NJ/Bergen Catholic) all tied for seventh.

Non-scorer Matt Shen (Honolulu, HI/Punahou School) also tied for seventh, as 59 golfers competed.
