Men's Track & Field Makes Top-50 Debut

Performance at UAA Championships is #29

The performance of the men's track & field team at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Indoor Championships ranks #29 on the New York University Top-50 Varsity Sports Highlight List for the 2019-20 season. 

Making their debut on the list, members of the squad produced bronze medals in three events at the competition, which NYU hosted at the Armory in Manhattan Saturday-Sunday, February 29-March 1. 

As a team, the Violets finished fifth overall. just one point behind fourth-place Brandeis University.

Leading the way with third-place performances on Sunday were Ben Karam (New York, NY/Xavier) in the mile and Owen Mountford (Mountain View, CA/Mountain View ) in the shot put

On Saturday, NYU's distance medley relay team of Jack Lillian (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley), David Obwaya (Blaine, MN/Blaine), Benjamin Heintz (Newtown, PA/Council Rock North), and Karam also posted a third-place finish.

Other top performers for NYU at the UAA's included Kamden Martin (Canonsburg, PA/Canon McMillan), who collected points for the Violets with fourth-place finishes in the 60m and 200m, and Julian Montilus (Mendham, NJ/West Morris Mendham), who also took fourth in the 60m hurdles. 

Overall, NYU accumulated 59 points at the meet.
