The women's golf team makes its second appearance on the New York University's 2019-20 Top-50 Highlight List at #22 with its season-opening victory at the St. Lawrence Invitational.
Held on September 7-8 at the Oliver D. Appleton Golf Course in Canton, NY, NYU won the 10-team event, produced the top individual and set a pair of team records.
The Violets shot 289 in the opening round, setting a new program standard. The next day, the team shot 292, the second-best round of all time. Not surprisingly, the two-round total of 581 smashed the old team record by eight strokes.
Leading the way for NYU was junior captain
Navika Kuchakulla (Orlando, FL/Lake Highland Preparatory School), who shot a two-under-par 142 (70-72) to lead the field of 48 golfers.
All five NYU scorers finished among the top-nine as the Violets wound up 45 strokes ahead of second-place Middlebury College (626).
The women's golf team first appeared on the Top-50 List at #33 with its second-place finish at the Tartan Invitational on October 8.
