The New York University men's cross country team finished the season in fourth place at the 2025 NCAA Division III National Championship.
The meet, held on Saturday, November 22, at Milliken Park in Spartanburg, SC, caps the season for the Violets with a return to the podium for the first time since 2009.
"The men ran a fantastic race today. It was a true pack effort to get back on the podium," said Associate Head Coach Nic Jacobsen. "We're looking to build on this going into track season, and also for next year."
NYU's fourth-place finish equals the third-best National Championship finish all-time for the Violets, matching the team's performance in 2009.
The freshman sensation and UAA Champion, Theodore Udelson-Nee, led the field for the Violets. He sat 30th overall after the initial 1k and dropped just one place over the next 7k to take 31st place overall with a 24:33.8 time.
Liam Hagerty trailed his rookie teammate by just under four seconds, passing six competitors in the final stretch to take 33rd place overall and finish in 24:37.6.
In his final race as a Violet, Jeffrey Chen took 40th overall with a 24:43.2 finish.
One of the most impressive performances of the day for NYU came from junior Alex Hrycysyzn, who climbed 62 places in the final five kilometers, including passing 17 competitors in the final kilometer. His 2:46.1 final split ensured a 44th-place finish and a 24:46.7 overall time.
Andrew Taylor rounded out the scoring places for the Violets in 68th place (24:59.7).
Luke Munoz (25:25.1) and Huckleberry Oakes (25:53.1) finished out the field for the Violets.
Saturday's results marks the fifth all-time podium finish for the men's program at the National Championships, adding to 2007 (National Champions), 2006 (National Runners-Up), 2009 (4th place) and 2024 (5th place).
