The New York University men's cross country team finished second at the Division III Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship on Saturday, November 9, at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome in Milton, NY.
The Violets finished with 69 points in the 18-team race, ending up seven points behind the winning squad, St. Joseph's College - Long Island.
The top finisher for NYU was freshman
Jon Diaz (Brookline, MA/Brookline), who crossed the line of the 8K course in 10th place with a time of 28:32.7.
Not far behind Diaz were sophomore
Malcolm Silver-Van Meter (Thetford, VT/Thetford Academy) (12th place, 28:50.4), junior
Pat Xu (Boxborough, MA/Acton-Boxborough) (13th place, 29:06.2) and junior
Oliver Jacob (Marblehead, MA/Marblehead) (15th place, 29:15.4).
Rounding out the scoring for the Violets was senior
Yuji Cusick (Hinsdale, IL/Hinsdale Central) (24th place, 29:42.9).
Overall, 117 runners participated.
Next up for NYU is the NCAA Atlantic Region Championship, hosted by St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY, on Saturday, November 16.
