The New York University women's golf team competed in the opening two rounds of the UAA Championships on Monday, September 14 at Elks Run Golf Club in Batavia, OH. The UAA Championships returned to Elks Run for the third consecutive year of the match play tournament.

In the new scoring format, each of the four teams sent six golfers and will face off against each opponent once. Each individual match can earn 3 points for a win and 1 point for a tie. The overall individual points winner determines the team match winner.

NYU began with a matchup against Carnegie Mellon. Inha Jun and Elisa Xue each took a comfortable 4&3 victory in their opening rounds. Jun birdied five of her final nine holes, and Xue birdied hole 10 to close out her match. Jiarui Li secured a 1-up win after pars on her last three holes to maintain her advantage. Naomi Tan tied to provide a point for her team.

Carnegie Mellon was able to take the other two matches, giving NYU 10 points in the morning action.

In the afternoon round, the Violets took on Emory. Jun and Xue managed to tie their matches, as each came back from down two holes at earlier points in their matches.

Emory won the other four matches, resulting in 2 points for NYU in the second round.

With one more match to go, the Violets currently sit in third place with 12 points. They will take on WashU in tomorrow's 8 AM shotgun start.
