Alexander Diaz Named UAA Wrestler of the Year

Sophomore Adds on to Outstanding Season

Alexander Diaz of the New York University wrestling team has been named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Wrestler of the Year following his outstanding season.

The sophomore from Richboro, PA, registered a 33-1 record on the year, wrestling exclusively at 125 pounds.

For his efforts, he earned a trip to the NCAA Championships, where he finished third in the 125-pound bracket. He helped the Violets finish in fourth place in the team standings, good for a program record.

NYU also won its third consecutive UAA Championship this year where Diaz recorded bonus points in both of his bouts, including a pin against Case Western Reserve University.

Additional accolades for Diaz on the season included first place at the Ned McGinley Invite, Racich Rumble, NYS Collegiate Championships, and NCAA Northeast Regionals.
