The New York University women's golf team continued its spring season at the Max & Susan Stith Invitational hosted by Randolph-Macon University on Monday, March 31, in Richmond, VA.
After the first round at The Dominion Club, the Violets find themselves in second place out of 15 teams, shooting a combined +11 for the round. The team ended the day with two players ranked in the top five.
Tiya Chowdary led the way for NYU on Monday, shooting -1 over 18 holes. She is currently in second place out of 75 participants. Chowdary made one birdie, and shot par on every other hole. She is two strokes back from the leader.
Naomi Tan also had a strong performance, carding an even par and in a tie for third place. She struggled on holes 10-12, shooting a bogey on each one, but finished well with two birdies in her last four holes.
Kelly Jing and
Nalinda Wanikpun also scored for the Violets, shooting +6 and +7, respectively.
The Violets will return to the links tomorrow for the second and final round, with tee times yet to be determined.
