The New York University women's golf team completed Round 2 of the Williams Invitational on Sunday, September 29, at the Taconic Golf Club in Williamstown, MA.
The Violets,
currently ranked #17 in the nation, finished the tournament in second place out of 23 teams, achieving a total score of +32 after improving to +15 in Round 2 after shooting +17 in Round 1.
Wellesley College, ranked #12, took first place with an overall score of +24 on the par-71 course.
Freshman
Naomi Tan, who had finished Round 1 at +2, delivered a stellar even-par performance in Round 2, highlighted by four birdies. Her efforts placed her third overall in the tournament.
Junior
Tiya Chowdary, after a +4 in Round 1, improved in Round 2 with a score of +2, securing sixth place, with one birdie in the round. Freshman
Kelly Jing added a +7 in Round 2 to her previous +6, finishing in 26th place overall.
Senior
Madison Phung carded a +13 in Round 2, including one birdie, after her earlier +5 in Round 1, which left her tied for 43rd overall with junior
Srishti Dhurandhar, who improved her Round 1 score of +12 by shooting +6 in Round 2.
Emily Renoff from Bowdoin College emerged as the individual champion, leading the 115-player field with a final score of -3.
"Naomi had a great showing. She's been a valuable addition to our team." said Head Coach
Brad Johnson. "I'm proud of the team's resilience throughout the tournament. If we continue this level of effort, I'm confident we'll perform even better in the next tournament."
The Violets will compete next at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational, scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, October 7-8, in Pittsburgh, PA.
