The New York University women's golf team completed Round 1 of the Williams Invitational on Saturday, September 28, hosted at Taconic Golf Club in Williamstown, MA.
The team currently holds second place with a score of +17, tied with Amherst College, while Wellesley College tops the 23-team competition with a score of +11 on the par-71 course.
"After a solid performance in the first half, we faced some challenges on a few holes," said Head Coach
Brad Johnson. "However, if we can eliminate some big numbers, we have a strong chance to compete for the top spot."
Leading the way for the Violets was freshman
Naomi Tan, who is in seventh place with a score of +2, making her the top player for NYU.
Junior
Tiya Chowdary placed 10th with a score of +4, while senior
Madison Phung followed with a +5, putting her in 17th position.
Freshman
Kelly Jing carded a +6, putting her 27th, while junior
Srishti Dhurandhar recorded a score of +12, landing her in 61st place.
Aileen Du from Wellesley leads the impressive 115-player field with a score of -1.
The Violets will return to the course on Sunday, September 29, for Round 2 of the Williams Invitational at Taconic Golf Club, with the first tee time scheduled for 9:30 am.
