The New York University women's golf team, currently ranked #17 in the nation, has completed Round 1 of the George Phinney Classic, which is being held on Saturday and Sunday, September 21-22, hosted by Middlebury College at the Ralph Myhre Golf Course in Middlebury, VT.
The Violets shot +30 on the par-71 course and currently reside in third place.
NYU is just one stroke behind second-place #12 Wellesley College and has a five-stroke lead over host #22 Middlebury.
Williams College, ranked #6 in the nation, leads the 11-team competition with a score of +20.
Leading the way for NYU are freshman Naomi Tan, and juniors Tiya Chowdary and Srishti Dhurandhar, each finishing with scores of +7 and tying for 13th place. Senior Madison Phung shot +9, placing her 21st, while freshman Kelly Jing finished at +10, putting her in 24th position.
Natalie Cheong of Williams leads the 63-player field after shootng two-over 73.
The Violets will return to the course on Sunday for Round 2 with the first tee time scheduled for 9:30 am
