MEET RESULTS
The New York University men's and women's track & field teams sent two of their athletes to compete at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Last Chance Meet on Thursday, May 18, in Cambridge, MA. This is the final meet that NYU's athletes will be able to compete in as they attempt to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Mimi Conti represented the women in the 400m dash. The sophomore sprinter recorded a time of 57.58 to take fourth out of 13 runners. As of now, Conti's program-record time of 56.55, set at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship, ranks her as the 24th-fastest 400m sprinter in the nation.
On the men's side,
Nick Karam recorded a time of 4:00.82 in the 1,500m to finish 11th overall. The senior captain's best time of the year (3:53.95) was registered at Monday's Swarthmore Last Chance Meet. That time puts him at #40 in Division III.
A couple of team members currently are in the "running" to qualify for next weekend's NCAA Championships. They include
Neil Saddler in the 5,000m, whose best time of 14:21.95 currently is 13th-best in the nation, and
Jorge Maldonado, whose 30:30.10 in the 10,000m currently ranks 19th in the country.
This marks the end of the regular season for NYU's track & field teams. The final event of the year will be this year's NCAA Championships, which will be taking place on Thursday-Saturday, May 25-27, in Geneva, OH.
