The New York University women's track & field team concluded competition at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships hosted by Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA, on Sunday, April 28.
Grace Richardson finished second in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:32.94.
Emma Grunin took third in the javelin throw with her mark of 38.67m. In the discuss, Grunin posted a new personal best, throwing 33.32m.
In the triple jump,
Areyanna McCarthy and
Dasha Jackson finished in sixth and eighth place, respectively. McCarthy marked 11.15m to establish a new personal best and Jackson leapt 10.95m.
McCarthy cleared 1.51m in the high jump to tie for fourth place.
Dasha Jackson finished eighth in the final section of the 100-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 17.83.
The women's 4x100-meter relay team consisting of Jackson,
Kate Walsh,
Beverly Okyere, and
Cindy Leonard posted a fifth-place finish with a time of 50.91 while the 4x400-meter relay team consisting of Leonard, McCarthy, Okyere, and
Laila Goodman finished in 4:06.93 to take seventh in the event.
The team gathered 31.5 points to take seventh in the seven team event. Washington University (St. Louis) earned the UAA Championship with their 249.5 points.
The Violets are back in action on Wednesday, May 15, when they travel to Cortland, NY, to compete in the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference (AARTFC) Championships.
