The New York University women's track & field team traveled to Pittsburgh, PA, to begin competition at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships hosted by Carnegie Mellon University on Saturday, April 27.
Dasha Jackson qualified for the final round of the 100-meter hurdles with her sixth-place finish in the preliminary section today. Her time of 15.25 earned her a new personal best in the event.
All three Violets competing in the 100-meter dash set new personal records:
Kate Walsh (12.83),
Cindy Leonard (13.11) and
Beverly Okyere (13.15).
The pair of Okyere and Leonard also posted new top times in the 200-meter dash. Okyere finished in 12th place with a time of 26.65 and Leonard clocked 27.34 to take 13th.
Mackenzie Richard notched an 11th-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles crossing the line in 1:07.25.
Grace Rowley and
Jessica Allen finished in ninth and tenth place, respectively, in the 10,000-meter run. Rowley clocked 40.03.66 and Allen finished in 40:41.36.
The women's 4x800-meter relay team consisting of
Olivia Jackson,
Sammie Seamon,
Emily Castles, and
Caroline MacKinnon posted a sixth-place finish with a time of 9:55.67.
The Violets are currently in seventh place with three points. Washington University (St. Louis) is currently leading the field with 86 points.
NYU will kick off the second and final day of competition at the UAA Championships tomorrow, Saturday, April 28th, in Pittsburgh, PA. Action is set to begin at 10:00 AM.
