Aliea Clark tops the field as she remained one-under par for a 142 two-day total (71-71) to lead NYU's women's golf team in round two of the NCAA Championship at the par-72, 5,866-yard Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, TX, on Wednesday.
The Violets shot 313 on the day for a total score of 616 and sit in 11th place after 36 holes. NYU was tied for fourth after round one and is still just six shots out of the top five.
Clark, a graduate student who previously played at UCLA, was four under after the first nine holes and currently holds a one-stroke lead for first individually.
Michelle Zhou is the other Violet among the top 20 (t-17th) with a two-round total of 150. She was even after the first nine but finished with a five-over 77 today.
NYU's other three golfers—
Nalinda Wanikpun,
Madison Phung and
Summer Yang—are all tied for 87th with scores of 163.
There are 29 teams and 151 golfers competing at the Championship. Fellow UAA qualifier Emory University holds a 14-stroke lead on first place as a team with a 12-over 588.
NYU trails 10th-place WashU by just one stroke and is just seven out of third. The Violets are well positioned to make the cut, leading 12th-place Centre College by six strokes.
After tomorrow's third round, the tournament will be reduced to the top 15 teams and top six individuals not on an advancing team.
The third day of action in Houston tees off with a morning wave at 7:45 a.m. and afternoon group at 12:15 p.m.
