New York Unviersity's women's golf team sits in second place, just four strokes behind Amherst College, after round one of the Vassar College Invitational at the Casperkill Golf Club in Poughkeepsie, NY.
The Violets shot 307 as a team across the first 18 holes, leading Williams College by three strokes as the Invitational looks like a three-team race entering tomorrow's second and final round.
Aliea Clark led the way for NYU as she's tied for second individually with a two-over-par 74.
Michelle Zhou (76) sits two strokes behind Clark and is tied for sixth place.
There are 59 golfers and 10 teams competing in the tournament.
Isabel Herrera is also among the top 10 individuals, tied for ninth with a six-over 78.
Nalinda Wanikpun shot a 79 on the day, good for a five-way tie at 12th place.
Summer Yang rounded out NYU's entrants, shooting 82 in round one which has her tied for 27th. NYU and Amherst are the only teams with all five of their golfers among the top 30.
Wanikpun (37th), Zhou (118th) and Herrera (128th) are ranked among
Golfstat's top 150 golfers in all of Division III.
Round two of the Invitational tees off tomorrow morning at 8 am.
