Women's Golf Takes Third at Hamilton

Violets Produce Three Top-10 Finishers

New York University's Women's Golf Team finished in third place at the Hamilton College Invitational, which was held at the Yahnundasis Golf Club in New Hartford, NY, on Saturday and Sunday, September 11-12.

The Violets shot 10 strokes better (309) on Sunday than they did in the first round on Saturday.

"We recovered well today, but it just wasn't enough to overcome a tough first day" said Head Coach Katie Rudolph.

NYU's two-day total of 628 was just five behind second-place Amherst College. Williams College (613) won the 15-team invitational.

Charlotte Kwong (Hong Kong/Kent School) was the Violets' top performer, shooting seven-over-par 153 (77-76) and tying for third place in the 90-person field.

The Violets also had two other top-10 finishers, as Madison Phung (Frisco, TX/Lebanon Trail) and Camilla Chung (San Francisco, CA/St. Ignatian College Prep) both tied for ninth place with identical rounds of 79 and 76 (155).

Michelle Zhou (Southlake, TX/Carroll) (tied for 28th) and Arshia Mahant (New Delhi, India/Modern School Vasant Vihar) (tied for 40th) also competed for NYU.

"We learned a lot about strategy over the weekend and look forward to competing again next week," Rudolph added.

The Violets return to action at the Middlebury College Invitational next weekend in Middlebury, VT.
