The New York University men's track & field team returned to action at the Last Chance Meet, which took place at the Armory in Manhattan on Friday, February 21.
The top performances of the day came from the throwers. Senior
Carter Beardsley (Summit, NJ/Newark Academy) finished second in the weight throw with a mark of 15.66, with sophomore
Owen Mountford (Mountain View, CA/Mountain View ) not far behind (sixth place, 14.12m). Mountford also was runner-up in the shot put (13.83m).
Another top-10 finish belonged to senior
Julian Montilus (Mendham, NJ/West Morris Mendham), who placed 10th in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.68. He narrowly missed qualifying for the final by just .04 seconds.
In the distance events, junior
Samuel Klein (Brookline, MA/Brookline) finished 12th in the 3,000m with a personal-best time of 8:59.11. Meanwhile, senior
Benjamin Heintz (Newtown, PA/Council Rock North) led a quartet of Violets in the 800m, placing 15th in a season-best 1:57.72.
There was no team scoring at the meet, which included schools from Divisions I, II, and III.

The Violets return to action next Saturday, February 29, when they return to the Armory to host day one of the two-day University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships.
