Members of the New York University men's and women's track and field teams competed in a pair of "last chance" meets on Saturday, Mar. 7 with the hopes of qualifying for the 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field National Championships.
Violet runners and jumpers competed at the Tufts National Qualifying Meet in Medford, MA and the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference Championships (AARTFCC), hosted at The Armory Track and Field Center in Manhattan.
Selections for the National Championships will be released on Sunday, Mar. 8 at 7:00 p.m. on the NCAA website.
At Tufts, the NYU mid-distance and distance runners all finished in the top ten with three first-place finishes.
Theo Udelson-Nee returned to action with a first-place finish in the men's 5,000m final. Udelson-Nee clocked in at 14:16.27, the 20th-best time in the Division III indoor season.
Liam Hagerty (14:39.51) and
Jeffrey Chen (14:55.17) rounded out the top five.
Lucy Gott (17:47.69) and Daniela Skehar (17:54.96) took fourth and fifth places, respectively, in the women's 5k race.
Huckleberry Oakes led the field in the men's mile, finishing in 4:11.03.
The Violets placed two in the top three for the women's 800m race.
Rina Kurihara took first with a 2:14.74 time, with
Gianna Dawson (2:17.04) taking third.
NYU's contingent at The Armory recorded five personal best times in the 3000m races.
James Jenkins (8:34.74) led the Violets in the men's race in ninth place.
Emily Castles (10:12.15) placed eighth in the women's race.
Qualifying Violets will conclude the indoor season at the National Championships, held Mar. 13-14 at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Alabama.
