The New York University men's track and field team kicked off the University Athletic Association (UAA) Outdoor Championship weekend on Saturday morning.
UAA Championships are being held on the campus of Case Western Reserve University (CWRU), Apr. 25-26, in Cleveland, Ohio.
After completing the first day of action, the Violet men sit in seventh place with three points.
The Violet points came early at a rainy Sudeck Track.
Elijah McCauley placed sixth in the 10,000m final on Saturday morning with a 31:56.72 time.
Three NYU runners earned a spot in a Sunday final race.
Tyler Burch scored the final place in the 100m final with an 11.02 prelim time.
James Thompson (22.39) and
Flynt Whitworth (22.47) secured two of the final spots in the 200m final with the sixth-best and seventh-best times, respectively.
Thompson's 22.39 mark is a personal best.
The Violets return to action Sunday morning. NYU runners will race in the 4x100m relay, 1500m, 100m, 200m, 5000m and 4x400m relay. Their field athletes will open the day with the javelin throw, followed by triple jump and discus.
