The New York University men's golf team won its second-straight Liberty League Championship behind a standout performance from freshman
Chris Lee. The three-round event took place on Friday-Sunday, April 26-28, at the Turning Stone Resort in Verona, NY.
Lee, one of three Violets to finish among the top 10, won the individual title by shooting a three-round score of 227 (73-80-74). The Palisades Park, NJ, native helped the Violets win the seven-team event by 16 strokes over second-place University of Rochester.
"Chris was awesome for us this weekend," said Head Coach
Brad Johnson. "He was one of a few of our guys to play well and now we'll take this momentum into next month's NCAA Championship."
Lee was joined by classmate
Joseph Burlison (third place; 234) and
Matt Shen (eighth place; 238) in the top 10 at the 35-player event.
The Violets will return to the course when they compete for an NCAA Championship for the second-straight year. This year's event will be hosted by Transylvania University from May 14-17 at Keene Trace in Nicholasville, KY.
