The New York University men's golf team opened its 2025-26 campaign on day one of the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship on Monday, September 8, at the Elks Run Golf Course in Batavia, OH.
The Violets faced #9-ranked Carnegie Mellon to open the season and fell 4-2, then lost to #21-ranked University of Rochester by a similar score in their second match.
Qi Liu and Bryan Zhao recorded the Violets' victories in the opener.
Liu never trailed in his match-up, holding a steady lead throughout and going up by three strokes with four holes remaining to secure the win.
Zhao followed in similar fashion, building an early lead and winning 4&3.
Kai Nam Ryan Leung led his opening match through the 16th hole, but could not hold on and was defeated 1UP.
Liu was NYU's only winner in the second match vs. Rochester, while Zhao and Jomyuth Luangtana-anan's matches both ended in ties.
The Violets will take on #3-ranked Emory University tomorrow to close out the championship.
