The New York University men's golf team returned to the course on Sunday, October 5, for the first day of the RPI Men's Collegiate Invitational.
The two-day tournament is being held at Shaker Ridge Country Club in Loudonville, NY, and hosted by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI).
NYU sits in fourth on the team leaderboard after the first round with a cumulative +17 score. Swarthmore and RPI top the leaderboard, tied at +11.
Jomyuth Luangtana-anan is the lone Violet in the individual top ten, finishing the round in fourth place after a 72 (+1) round. Birdies on holes four, seven and 13 pushed Luangtana-anan below par, but a pair of missteps on the final five holes landed him one shot over par.
Qi Liu finished the day just outside the top ten with a 74 (+3) first round. Liu scored back-to-back birdies on the front nine and back nine.
Oscar Uribe (+6) and
Kai Nam Ryan Leung (+7) rounded out the top four for the Violets.
The team will conclude play on Monday, October 6, with the final round of the Invitational.
