Vassar Scramble Day Two Results (PDF)
The New York University women's tennis team completed play at the Vassar Scramble on Sunday, September 16, in Poughkeepsie, NY.
After going 7-7 in day one of the event, the Violets played two rounds of doubles and went 3-3 on Sunday to finish with an overall record of 10-10. NYU went 0-2 against Vassar College, 0-1 vs. Connecticut College, and 3-0 against New Paltz.
"We came out of the gates ready to compete and showed competitive spirit," said Assistant Coach
Ben Lee. "I think we could have implemented certain tactics earlier in some matches, but overall a good day."
All three of NYU's doubles pairs came away with a victory.
Kate Shaffer and
Judy Kam got things started in the first round for the Violets with an 8-5 win over their opponents.
Coco Kulle and
Flyora Shiyanova followed up with a triumphant 8-0 sweep in the second round.
Rupa Ganesh and
Ayesha Das closed out the day by claiming an 8-3 victory in the final match.
"We still have work ahead of us," added Lee. "But, I am confident heading into ITA Regionals this coming weekend."
The Violets will be back in action on Saturday, September 22, when they open up three days of competition at the ITA Northeast Regional Championships hosted by William Smith College in Geneva, NY.
