The New York University women's tennis team defeated the University of Rochester 7–0 on Saturday, March 28, in Rochester, NY.
In doubles matches, the Violets swept.
The No. 1 duo of Sophia Yang and Visnja Gusavac secured a win with a score of 6–0. At No. 2, Emma Kast and Victoria Wang took over their match with a 6–3 win, while the No. 3 duo of Norah Staunton and Sophia Wright earned a 6–0 victory.
NYU carried their rhythm into singles where they won all six matches.
At No. 1, Gusavac posted a dominant 6–0, 6–0 victory. Wang followed with a 6–3, 6–1 win at No. 2. Yang earned a 6–1, 6–3 victory at No. 3, while Siona Vallabhaneni secured a 7–5, 6–1 win at No. 4. At No. 5, Aditi Narayan battled back for a 2–6, 6–4, 10–6 tiebreak victory, and Noelle Faber closed out the match with a 6–1, 6–1 win at No. 6.
"The women took care of business," said Head Coach Horace Choy. "Conference opponents are always tough but we got off to a good start and maintained that level all the way through. We played well and got some strong performances across the board."
The Violets will return to action on Sunday, March 29, when they face William Smith College in Geneva, NY.
