Men's Fencing Team Off to Encouraging Start

Several Impressive Individual Efforts Lead Way at 2010 Temple Open

The New York University men's fencing team opened its 2010-11 season on Sunday, November 7, at the Temple Open in Philadelphia, PA. 

The Violets faced stiff competition from the tournament field, which included host Temple University, Cornell University and the University of Pennsylvania.  

Faced with these tough challengers, the Violets amassed some impressive marks in each weapon.

In foil, Phil Jamesson had an encouraging season debut, finishing in sixth place.

Several fencers on the NYU team thrived in sabre.  Kyle Wilson had the team's best performance of the day with a third-place finish.  Hugo Rodrigues was fifth in the weapon and Ben Radding captured sixth place. 

Ricky Woodward, competing in epee, finished 16th in the weapon.

The Violets are back in action against Stevens Institute of Technology on Tuesday, Nov. 9, in a home match at the Coles Sports Center.
