New York University's fencing teams and their student-athletes have received accolades from the United States Fencing Coaches Association (USFCA) for their academic achievements.
The USFCA recognizes the individual student-athletes and teams on the basis of their combined Fall and Spring semester grade point averages (GPA's).
All-Academic Team honors are presented to those student-athletes at member institutions who had an in-season GPA of 3.3 or higher. Scholar of Distinction honors are presented to those student-athletes at member institutions who had an in-season GPA of 3.7 or higher.
Of the 30 NYU fencers who received All-Academic honors, 18 also achieved Scholar of Distinction accolades.
The Violets' men's team finished with a 3.502 GPA, the seventh-best in the nation, while the women finished with a 3.562 GPA, the 10th-highest. The men earned 16 All-Academic honors, 12 receiving Scholar of Distinction, with the women collecting 14 and six, respectively.
