The New York University men's and women's track and field teams opened competition at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships, hosted at SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio, on Thursday, March 22.
The Violets' pair in the women's 10,000m final led NYU's field of five on the opening day of competition.
Grace Rowley turned in a personal best in the 10k final, using a mid-race push to climb from the bottom of the field and finish in 11th place with a 35:26.66 time. Lucy Gott placed 14th with a 35:41.05 time.
Both women earned Second Team All-America honors.
Evan Sherman and Jeffrey Chen both competed in the men's 10,000m final, placing 17th and 18th, respectively. Sherman crossed the line in 30:53.36, with Chen just behind in 31:26.07.
Stella Kuttner qualified for the 1500m final in her first appearance at the National Championships. Her preliminary time of 4:31.88 earned the freshman the final qualifying spot in Saturday's final and a guaranteed All-America spot.
One Violet runner will be in action during the Friday session as Jon Diaz looks to qualify for the 800m final. The preliminary run is scheduled for 4:00pm.
