The New York University men's and women's track teams concluded their participation in the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships on Saturday, May 24, wrapping up three days of competition at the SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio.
Ryan Tobin earned All-America honors for the men's team in the 5000m event. The senior hung within the top six for the entirety of the race and climbed three places in the final 800 meters to clinch fourth place at 14:16.67.
Tobin's performance was worth five points for team and placed NYU in 42nd place overall of 137 teams competing, the first points scored for the men at the NCAA Championships since 2019.
Janie Cooper led the way for the Violet women in the final distance event of the weekend, the 5000m run. She remained steady throughout the race, dipping only as low as eighth place, but held firm in seventh place with a 16:39.90 finish. She earned two points for the team with her run. Katherine Cochran took 17th place in the race, finishing in 17:01.42.
Stella Kuttner started the day for the Violets running in her first national final, the 1500m final, after clinching the final of 12 qualifying spots. The freshman made up two places on the final lap, placing 10th with a 4:36.54 time. Kuttner earned a place on the All-America Second Team for her efforts.
Cooper's points placed the NYU women in 62nd place overall out of 126 teams. This marks two consecutive years that the Violet women have scored points at the season-ending meet.
