Women's Golf Completes Play at NCAA Championship

Violets Finish in 19th Place

The New York University women's golf team ended its NCAA Division III Championship campaign on Thursday, May 15, at the Kingsmill Resort & Spa in Williamsburg, VA.

After play was halted in the middle of the second round due to weather during Wednesday's session, the Violets closed out the round Thursday morning and finished with an overall two-day team score of +52, which was short of the cut line of +44. 

NYU completed its championship run in 19th place.

Kelly Jing completed her second round with a score of +5 and finished with a two-day total of +11, the Violets' best individual finish.

After a +3 first round, Tiya Chowdary finished the competition at +12.

Next up for NYU was Naomi Tan, who shot +7 in each round for a +14 total. 

Srishti Dhurandhar shot +15 for the two rounds, improving to +6 over the second round.

Yu Young Chung (+26) also competed for NYU.

Despite not making the team not making the cut, several individuals were honored by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WCGA) for their season-long success.

Chowdary, who averaged 74.6 strokes per round during the season and won the Max and Susan Stith Invitational (March 31-April 1), was named WGCA Honorable Mention All-American and All-Region 1. 

Tan, who led the Violets with a 73.6 scoring average and posted third-place finishes at the Max and Susan Stith Invitational and the Williams Invitational (September 28-29), also earned those honors. 
  
The Violets ended the regular-season ranked #9 in the nation.
