The New York University men's golf team has completed Round 1 of the Duke Nelson Invitational, hosted by Middlebury College on Saturday, September 14,
The Violets finished with a round of +34, placing them 16th overall on the par-71 course at Ralph Myhre Golf Course in Middlebury, VT.
NYU is in close contention, trailing just one stroke behind St. Lawrence University and Wesleyan University (CT), both tied for 14th place at +33. Additionally, the Violets hold a narrow two-stroke advantage over Clarkson University, positioned in 18th place at +36.
Leading the way for NYU were freshman Shray Patel and junior Ryan Leung, each finishing with scores of +8 and tying for 59th place. Junior Ishaan Shroff and sophomore Jomyuth Luangtana-Ana both finished with scores of +9 and are tied for 66th place.
Freshman Oscar Uriba finished at +11, placing him in 91st.
Ramon Aroca Gonzalez of Hamilton College leads the 120-player field after shooting a one-under-par 70.
Overall, 23 teams are competing, with the University of Hartford leading the way at +14.
The Violets will return to the course on Sunday for Round 2 of the Duke Nelson Invitational with the first tee time scheduled for 9:00am.
