The New York University men's track & field team competed in the Metropolitan Outdoor Track & Field Championships held at Ichan Stadium on Randall's Island in Mahattan on Saturday, April 6.
The Violets compiled 22 points to place 10th overall in the 13-team competition.
Nishad Sankar finished third in the triple jump, marking 13.34m to earn six points for the team.
Isaac Tu and
Drew Boyce finished fourth and fifth, respectively, with Tu recording 12.77m and Boyce 12.71m.
Sankar also posted a seventh-place finish in the long jump with a final mark of 5.82m.
Jeffrey Chen notched a personal-best 4:07.76 finish in the 1,500-meter run to take sixth in the event.
Sam Frank, also in the 1,500, recorded a five-second personal best to finish 22nd with a time of 4:18.58.
Daniel Lee finished eighth in the shot put with a mark of 11.37m.
Jorge Rocha clocked 2:00.95 in the 800-meter dash, an eight-second improvement from his previous personal best of 2:08.26 which he set at the NYC DIII Invitational in 2022.
The 4x400-meter relay team consisting of
Emmanuel Brito,
Davis Flanagin,
Nabeel Elsanousi, and
Julian Aske took eighth, finishing less than one second behind seventh-place St. Peter's University with a time of 3:27.87.
The Violets are back in action next Friday, April 12, when the team splits competition at the Larry Ellis Invitational in Princeton, NJ, and the Connecticut College Invitational in New London, CT.
