The New York University men's golf team is in fifth place after the first round of the Liberty League Championship, which is being held Friday-Sunday, April 26-28, at the Shenendoah Golf Club at Turning Stone in Verona, NY.
The Violets totaled a cumulative 304 over Friday's first round and sit three strokes behind fourth-place RPI.
Skidmore College leads the seven-team competition after shooting even-par 288.
The winning team earns an automatic bid to next month's NCAA Division III Championship.
NYU's low scorer on Friday was
Ryan Leung. He shot three-over 75 and is tied for 13th place.
Kevin Kim and
Ishaan Shroff are one stroke behind, both coming in with a 76 and tied for 15th place.
Drew Clark, who was the individual champion at last weekend's Farmingdale State Spring Invitational, is tied for 20th place after carding a 77.
Jomyuth Luangtana-anan is also competing for NYU and finished with a 78, tied for 26th place.
Round two tees off at 12:00pm on Saturday.
