The New York University men's track & field team completed day two of the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships at the Armory in Manhattan, on Sunday, February 26.
Ryan Tobin notched a third-place finish in the 3,000-meter run with his season-best 8:25.20. Jeffrey Chen took fifth in the event with a personal-best time of 8:27.87.
"It was a pretty good race. I raced the 5k yesterday and didn't have that great of a race, so to come out here today and get a medal, my first UAA medal, was nice," said Tobin.
Nishad Sankar placed fourth and set a new personal best in the triple jump with his mark of 13.77m.
Julian Aske took fifth in the 800-meter run, posting a 1:53:54 finish.
After achieving top-eight finishes in the preliminary rounds yesterday, Emmanuel Brito took sixth in the final sections of both the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes today. He posted a 22.62 finish in the 200 and a personal-best time of 49.75 in the 400.
Davis Flanagin placed seventh in the final section of the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.22.
Alex Hrycysyzn took eighth and surpassed his previous personal best in the mile, crossing the line in 4:18:55. Jorge Rocha also achieved a new personal best, finishing in 4:22.46 to take 11th place.
In the shot put, Daniel Lee and Kai Aravena posted new personal bests, marking 12.02m and 10.79m, respectively.
Carnegie Mellon University won the team championship with 177 points, followed by Emory University with 137 points.
NYU placed sixth with 35 points.
The Violets are back in action next weekend when they travel to Nazareth University to compete in the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference Championships. Competition is set to begin at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 1.
