Four student-athletes from New York University's women's volleyball team have been named Academic All-District by the College Sports Communicators (CSC), recognizing their achievements both on the court and in the classroom.
Jessica Spierenburg,
Ava Launsbach,
Taylor Odum, and
Grace Nelson were honored while Odum and Nelson will advance to the Academic All-America ballot.
Student-athletes who have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher and have competed in at least 90 percent, or started at least 66 percent, of their team's games are eligible for Academic All-District selection.
Odum and Nelson were both named Honorable Mention All-Americans by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), with Nelson adding on First Team All-University Athletic Association (UAA) honors, as well.
Spierenburg led the charge both on the attack and at the net, totaling a team-best 114.0 blocks, while also adding 171 kills. Of her 114 blocks, 15 were solo.
Similarly, Odum tallied 113 blocks and 174 kills.
Launsbach finished third n the UAA in serving aces with 57 and was fifth with 696 assists.
In a sophomore year as impressive as her freshman season, Nelson totaled 416 kills, good for top-30 in the country and second in the UAA. She also tallied a conference-best 63 serving aces.
