The New York University men's swimming team earned a solid 183-77 victory over Rowan University on Saturday, October 26, in Glassboro, NJ.
Ranked #5 in the nation, NYU showcased their strength by winning 11 of the 14 events.
Evan Jue led the Violets, showcasing his versatility by claiming victories in both the 1000-yard freestyle, with a time of 9:51.15, and the 500-yard freestyle, where he finished in 4:47.17.
Sophomores Victor Derani and Pierce Downs each claimed two wins, with Derani finishing first in the 100-yard breaststroke (58.86) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:08.40), and Downs winning the 50-yard freestyle (21.16) and 100-yard freestyle (45.84).
Matthew Wang added a win in the 100-yard butterfly, touching the wall in 50.65.
Among the seniors, Benjamin Russell won the 400-yard individual medley (4:10.76), and Jaeden-Hans Yburan finished first in the 200-yard butterfly (1:54.69).
Teddy McQuaid added to the Violets' tally with a win in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing in 51.62.
"We had a lot of great individual and relay performances, which led to an easy victory for the men," said Head Coach Trevor Miele. "This was our hardest week of training this year, and I'm glad to see they raced well to finish it up. We still have a lot of work to do, but it's been a great start to the season."
NYU will return to action on Friday, November 1, when it hosts Stevens and Drew University at the Palladium Athletic Facility in New York, NY. Diving will begin at 1:00 PM, followed by swimming events at 5:00 PM.
