The New York University men's swimming and diving team continued its final meet of the season on Friday, March 20, at the 2026 NCAA Division III Championships. The meet is hosted by Franklin College at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, IN.
After three days the Violets sit in second with 283 points, just 30.5 points behind Denison University who holds the lead with 313.5.
The Violet men came out strong with
Teddy McQuaid,
Sean Li,
Teddy Cross, and
Greg Wehbe claiming NYUs first ever National Championship in a relay while setting a new program record in the 200-yard medley relay (1:26.18).
"That doesn't just happen—it's the result of months of hard work, consistency, and belief," said Head Coach
Trevor Miele.
Cross (46.55) finished second overall in the 100 back with McQuaid (46.82) following closely behind with a fourth place finish and All-American status.
Sean Li (54.23) came first in the consolation final in the 100 breast to earn All-American Second Team.
Leo Han (1:48.11) also received All-American Second Team recognition in the 200 fly.
The Violets wrapped up the night with a fourth place finish in the 800-yard free relay.
Conner Dean,
Pierce Downs,
Misha Kabunov, and
Max Nechydyuk clocked in at 6:32.36, earning All-American honors.
"I'm really proud of this group," added Miele. "They've put in the work all year, and it's awesome to see it paying off when it matters most."
The last day of the competition kicks off on Saturday morning at 10:00 AM EST with preliminary races and dives, followed by the evening finals, which begin at 6:00 PM.
