The New York University men's swimming and diving team opened the final meet of the season on Wednesday, March 18, at the 2026 NCAA Division III Championships. The meet is hosted by Franklin College at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, IN.
After five events, the Violets are in fifth place with 71 points.
"The men's team got off to a great start tonight," said Swimming Head Coach
Trevor Miele. "Conner set the tone for us with an impressive IM swim and the team capped off the night with a great result in the relay."
In the team's first event of the evening session,
Conner Dean represented NYU in the 200 individual medley (IM) final. The rookie scored a third-place finish with a 1:45.98 time, being named an All-American.
Max Nechydyuk (1:47.16) and
Victor Derani (1:47.95) both placed in the top four in the consolation final, being named to the All-America Second Team.
Teddy Cross (19.90) tied for first place in the men's 50 freestyle consolation final, with teammate
Greg Wehbe (20.04) taking third in the race.
The Violet men closed out the first night with a fourth-place finish in the 400 medley relay championship final. The team of Cross,
Sean Li,
Teddy McQuaid, and
Pierce Downs clocked in at 3:11.75 to reset their program record, which they set at the 2026 University Athletic Association Championships.
Day two of competition kicks off Thursday morning at 10:00 AM EST with prelim races, followed by the evening finals, beginning at 6:00 PM.
