The New York University men's swimming and diving made program history with a second-place finish at the 2026 NCAA Division III Championships.
After four days of competition the Violets finished with 388.5 points. Denison University came out on top, just 48.5 points ahead, with 437.
The previous standard was set by the 2024-25 team which finished a best-ever fourth.
"The guys truly stepped up and delivered this week," said Head Coach
Trevor Miele. "I couldn't be more proud—they came ready to race and absolutely rose to the occasion."
Teddy Cross (1:42.27) secured the National Championship and set a new program record for the Violets in the 200 back, with teammate
Teddy McQuaid (1:43.55) coming up close behind in second.
In the 200 breast,
Conner Dean (1:58.74) finished fifth and
Victor Derani (1:58.82) placed seventh, both achieving All-America status while
Max Nechydyuk (1:58.50) was first in the consolation final to collect All-American Second Team.
Adam Mekrami (15:45.11) and
Evan Jue (15:47.26) both collected All-American Second Team recognition in the 1650 free.
Pierce Downs (44.03) tied for 10th overall in the 100 free also earning All-American Second Team.
To wrap up the night, the men came in 8th and earned All-America honors in the 400 free relay. The team of Downs, Cross,
Sean Li, and
Greg Wehbe clocked in at 2:59.61.
"There were so many incredible performances, records, and wins," added Miele. "It's hard to put into words just how much they accomplished this year."
