Men's Golf Closes Out Fall Slate

Violets Finish Fifth at Cangero Invitational

The New York University men's golf team wrapped up the final tournament of its Fall season at the George Cangero Invitational on Sunday, October 20, at Bethpage Golf Course in Farmingdale, NY. 

The Violets, who had led the field after the first round on Saturday with a score of -4, finished fifth in the team standings after carding a +3 in the final round, bringing their total to -1 on the par-72 course. Individually, three NYU golfers placed inside of the top-25. 

Oscar Uribe finished third individually. He shot a four-under-par in round one and an even-par in round two, with his final day highlighted by two eagles and one birdie.

Jomyuth Luangtana-anan placed 12th after posting a -2 in the first round and a +2 in the second, accumulating five birdies and an eagle over the two days.

Ryan Leung climbed to 15th place, improving from a +3 in round one to a -2 in round two, which included three birdies. 

Shray Patel finished +1 in round one and +3 in round two with three birdies in round two, landing him in 23rd place. 

"Proud of Oscar shooting a 68 and leading the team to a tie for first place in round 1," said Head Coach Brad Johnson. "Overall, the team played incredibly!"

The Violets will next hit the links at the Jekyll Invitational, hosted by Ogelthrope University in Jekyll Island, GA from Friday to Saturday, March 21-22.
