Men's Golf Competing at Bowdoin

Violets in Third Place After First Round

The New York University men's golf team is in third place after the first round of the Bowdoin Invitational, which is being held at the Brunswick Golf Club in Brunswick, ME, on Saturday and Sunday, September 23-24. 

The Violets shot a combined eight-over-par over Saturday's first round and trail only Trinity College (+3) and Amherst College (+5) in the 22-team tournament.

NYU's Jorge Montero is among a trio of leaders after the first 18 holes. He shot three-under-par 69 and is tied with Ty Baker of Endicott College and Cooper Yaccino of Trinity atop the leader board.

Next up for the Violets is Jomyuth Luangtana-anan, who is tied for 11th place after shooting a one-over-par 73. 

The next-lowest scorers for NYU are Kevin Kim at 75 (tied 25th) and Rohan Aerrabolu (79, tied 64th).

Overall, 109 golfers are competing.

"We saw some good play today. Jorge was awesome," said Head Coach Brad Johnson. "I expect us to continue to play well tomorrow and contend for the title."

Sunday's second round is set to tee off at 9:00am.
