The New York University men's golf team fell to Emory University, ranked
#3 in the latest Bushnell/Golfweek Division III Coaches Poll, in the opening day of competition at the University Athletic Association (UAA ) Championship on Saturday, March 11, at the Harbor Hills Country Club in Lady Lake, FL.
In match-play scoring, the Eagles defeated the Violets, who are receiving votes in the poll, 4-1.
Playing at #1, NYU's
Charles Hsieh finished in a tie with Emory's Nicholas Nautiyal. The Violets' #4 player
Ethan Yang also finished in a tie with the Eagles' Brian Hanson. Those draws accounted for the Violets' one point as Emory was victorious in the the other three matches.
NYU came into the Championship seeded #4, while Emory was the top seed.
In the other match of the day, #2 Carnegie Mellon University defeated #3 University of Rochester 3-2.
NYU will face Rochester in the third-place match tomorrow, while Emory and Carnegie Mellon will face-off for the UAA title.
