The New York University men's golf team opened play at the Golfweek October Classic, which is being held at the Raven Golf Club in Sandestin, FL, Sunday-Tuesday, October 15-17.
The Violets opened the three-day event by shooting 306 over the par 71, 6,621-yard course. They are in 24th place, three strokes behind Trinity College.
Emory University leads after the first round (276).
NYU's low scorer after Sunday's first round was
Ethan Yang. He is tied for 36th place after shooting a one-over-par 72. His round included four birdies over the back nine.
Kevin Kim was the Violets' next low scorer. He carded a 74 and is tied for 51st place.
Jomyuth Luangtana-anan and
Mark Zhang each shot 80 and are tied for 107th place, while
Jorge Montero recorded an 82 and is tied for 117th.
Overall, 25 teams and 125 golfers are competing.
