Seven Violets achieved top-five finishes as the New York University men's and women's track and field teams completed day two of the University Athletic Association (UAA) Outdoor Championships, hosted by Washington University in St. Louis, on Sunday.
After tying the women's program's outdoor record in the 200-meter dash yesterday,
Isre'al Conerly placed sixth in the event's finals with a time of 25.53 seconds. She also nabbed third place in the 400 finals, crossing the finish line in 57.17 seconds.
Fiona Kelleher also scored points for the women, claiming eighth in the 400 hurdles finals (1:14.79).
In the field events, a pair of Violet women secured top-five finishes.
Michelle Uvieghara took second with a 38.18-meter discus throw.
Ezri Scott came in fourth in the high jump with a 1.58-meter leap.
Five men's runners competed in finals races for their respective events.
Jon Diaz improved by five places in the 800-meter run. He narrowly qualified for the race after finishing eighth in yesterday's preliminaries, but claimed third place in the finals with a time of 1:52.83.
Two Violets competed in the 100-meter dash finals as
Zion Glover placed fourth (11.04) and
Kamden Martin seventh (11.13).
Ryan Tobin performed well in the men's 5000, securing fifth after crossing the finish in 14:52.88.
Owen Mountford continued his stellar performance at the Championships, taking second place in the discus throw with a 42.89-meter toss.
Oliver Fideler also scored in the triple jump, finishing sixth (13.01m).
NYU's men finished sixth as a team with 52 points. WashU won the men's title with 207 points.
On the women's side, NYU came in seventh with 29 points while WashU swept the Championships, winning the women's crown with 286 points.
The Violets will continue the outdoor season at the Penn Relays from Thursday to Saturday, April 28-30, in Philadelphia, PA.
