NYU Women's Swimming and Diving Earns UAA Honors

Marshall and Nardone Receive Athlete of the Week Accolades

Coming off strong performances at the Bruno Invitational last weekend, swimmer Caitlin Marshall (Noblesville, IN/Noblesville) and diver Katherine Nardone (Weston, MA/Weston) have been selected University Athletic Association (UAA) Athletes of the Week.

Both team members were instrumental in the Violets' second-place finish at the competition, which was hosted by NCAA Division I Brown University in Providence, RI, from Friday-Sunday, December 3-5.

Marshall posted the fastest 200 butterfly time in NCAA Division III this season with her second-place, 2:00.88 outing. Her busy weekend also included a seventh-place finish in the 500 freestyle (5:01.33), a ninth-place finish in the 100 butterfly (56.35), and a 10th-place showing in the 800 freestyle relay (7:47.75).

Nardone excelled in both diving events, taking third place in the 1-meter dive with a score of 263.40 points. In the 3-meter event, she finished sixth with a total score of 237.10.

NYU finished second only to host Brown, and ahead of Johns Hopkins University and the University of New Hampshire in the four-team meet.

The Violets' next competitions take place on Thursday and Friday, January 13-14, 2022. The NYU Diving Invitational will be at the Palladium Athletic Facility both days, while the swimmers will compete at Stevens Institute of Technology on Friday and host them on Saturday.
